And what better time to kick off a dialogue than the industry’s biggest and most important conference—Greenbuild.
Greenbuild promises to be an important event this year, as we all try to determine how the economic disruption of the past year has affected the sustainable building movement. Our third annual survey of corporate real estate executives, done in partnership with CoreNet Global, suggests that companies are still intensely focused on sustainability, but more than ever are weighing the immediate cost against the long-term measurable benefit.
The cost-benefit equation is at the heart of our presentation Thursday morning on the Empire State Building energy retrofit analysis. Chances are you’ve read or heard something about this project. But if you haven’t seen the full presentation, it’s an eye-opener on the subject of proving the value of a major whole-building retrofit. People show up to hear about the world’s most famous office building, but pretty soon they realize they can apply the process to their buildings.
It’s great to talk about the things we’re involved with, but as the saying goes, when you’re talking, you’re not learning. I intend to make the most of the incredible brain trust gathered in Phoenix. And I will be sure to report back on insights I collect at the event.
