I just can’t get enough of watching Rosemary Feenan’s video on the future of real estate. I think we can only hope it’s as incredible as that. I was proud to have Rosemary introduce the possible future scenarios and spark some lively discussion at the joint Jones Lang LaSalle and National Association of Women in Construction event, last week.

It was a great turnout, over 30 women shared their thoughts on the future of real estate with Rosemary and myself. A lively part of the discussion focused upon the renewable energy content of my own presentation.

To achieve the 20:20 goal set by the European Union (20% of energy consumption should come from renewable sources), there needs to be a solid mix of micro-generation with renewables on site (at our homes and offices), and large-scale offsite renewables (e.g. wind farms) with cross-European transmission lines and smart grids.

Then and only then can we deliver the right balance and mix. We are looking to the future and playing our part – are you?
