EMEA Upstream Sustainability Services
In September I saw the launch of the Global Reporting Initiative Construction and Real Estate Sector Supplement (GRI CRESS). Clients and colleagues alike have been waiting patiently for this key guidance document for sustainability reporting. Indeed, GRI CRESS was in the workings for over two years and involved an impressive multi-stakeholder working group, while Jones Lang LaSalle acted as a principal technical advisor to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for its development.
The Sector Supplement introduces both a number of new real estate specific indicators (such as building energy / water / greenhouse gas intensity Performance Indicators), as well as providing real estate specific commentary on existing disclosures and Performance Indicators.
The GRI has stipulated that it expects companies aiming to achieve Application Level A to start reporting in accordance with GRI CRESS from 2013. However, most companies are already actively discussing the adoption of GRI CRESS in their sustainability and CR reports to be published in 2012 and it will be interesting to see the uptake of CRESS in the New Year.
More information can be found in our press release on the day of the GRI CRESS launch, or alternatively please contact Jones Lang LaSalle’s Energy and Sustainability Services team in London who helped develop this Sector Supplement.
