On September 12, the Carbon Disclosure Project released its annual ratings of the disclosure and carbon management practices of companies around the world. Because JLL supports our clients’ efforts to design business strategies and to reduce energy and carbon use, the CDP is one of the programs in which we are involved.
Each year, we analyze the results of the CDP scores. For example, in the Financial Services sector (an industry where we work with companies such as HSBC, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank) we notice this year that the scores have shifted in a positive direction. As you can see in the chart below, the distribution of disclosure scores clusters more at the high end in 2012 than in 2011.
Among our favorite examples of individual achievements in this sector: JLL client Key Bank, a large U.S. regional bank, participated in the CDP for the first time this year and came out of the gates very fast with a disclosure score of 89 and performance band B.
We are encouraged by these results because we know that financial services companies are positioned to influence the priorities of the entire economy.
